Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about Mapquery, answered.
What is Mapquery?
Mapquery is an AI-powered location research tool. Search any area, explore businesses on a map, and ask plain-English questions to get real insights about any location, like what customers love, how a spot compares to others nearby, or whether an area is worth pursuing. It gives you the kind of research that used to take hours, in seconds.
Do I need any technical skills to use it?
Not at all. Search for a business type like "coffee shops". Mapquery places matching locations on a map. Click any pin and ask questions about that specific spot, like "what are the most popular menu items?" or "what do customers complain about most?" No technical setup needed.
What kind of questions can I ask?
Anything you'd want to know about a specific location. What are people saying about this spot? Who are the nearby competitors? Is this address worth a closer look? Ask it in plain English and get a clear answer.
How is this different from just searching manually?
Manual searches give you a narrow, ad-heavy picture shaped by what search engines want to promote, not what you need to know. Results vanish the moment you close the tab. Mapquery pulls from a wider range of sources focused on real business intelligence, gives you a more complete view of any location, and saves every result with its sources so your research builds over time.
Where does the AI research data come from?
Mapquery pulls from live public sources including business listings, review platforms, and local directories. Each query runs through an AI research layer that gathers and summarizes information from multiple sources in real time. Paid plans get deeper research with up to 10 sources per query, compared to 3 while you're trying Mapquery for free.
How fresh is the data?
Mapquery pulls from live public sources including business listings and review platforms. Each result includes a confidence indicator so you always know how reliable the insight is. We recommend using it as a strong starting point alongside your own local knowledge.
What locations does Mapquery cover?
Mapquery works anywhere there's publicly available business and review data, which covers most cities and towns worldwide. If people are leaving reviews and businesses are listed online, Mapquery can give you insights on it.
Can I try Mapquery for free?
Yes. You can get started for free and run your first research reports at no cost. Paid plans give you more credits, greater filtering, and the ability to save more projects.
What are credits and how do they work?
Credits are how Mapquery tracks usage. A quick location search costs 1 credit. Asking a custom research question costs 2 credits, since it triggers a deeper AI research pass across multiple sources. When you're trying Mapquery for free you get daily credits, and Pro gives you 1,000 credits per month. You can top up anytime with refill packs if you need more.
What happens when I run out of credits?
While you're trying Mapquery for free, you get a daily credit allowance so you can explore the product. On paid plans, your credits renew each billing cycle, and any additional refills you purchase never expire. You'll always see your remaining balance in your dashboard.
Can I cancel my subscription anytime?
Yes. Pro subscriptions have no contracts or cancellation fees. You can cancel anytime from your account settings and keep access through the end of your billing period.
Can I save or share my research?
Yes. Your reports are saved to your dashboard so you can revisit a deal anytime. You can also share a project with a client, principal, investor, or landlord on any plan via a shareable link. Paid plans give you more saved projects.
